The Amazon.com Kindle Fire is no Apple
iPad. The screen is smaller, it lacks a camera and it obviously won?t
synch with iTunes or iPhoto. The device is also WiFi only; there?s no 3G
option. Even more than the iPad, this is device for consuming content,
not for creating it.
But for $199, you get a pretty impressive piece of technology. It has
a full-color 7-inch LCD display, which you can use to read books ? it
is a Kindle, remember ? watch movies, listen to music and surf the Web.
There are some nice apps, though not the endless selection you get from
the Apple app store. The new Amazon Silk browser is super-fast loading; this seemed especially to be true with the Amazon.com store app that is included on the device.
